"My name is Chris and I’m a student at Florida International University studying Business Management, and I managed to fracture my hand while attending Warped Tour. I received what’s commonly known as a “Boxing Fracture” which is when your knuckle from your ring finger or pinky finger sinks in, due to the fact that they are floating bones, essentially. Most are commonly broken at a 45 Degree angle and severe cases are at 60 degrees. I somehow managed to break mine at a 90 degree angle, and my ONLY option for not having a deformed hand is to go through with this surgery.
The surgery is going to cost $5100 which includes the surgeon fee, anesthetic, and facility fees, but I added an extra $100 just in case there are any other costs. I have no medical insurance and I can’t remember when I last had it. I was also employed at Whole Foods, but due to my inability to work now because of my hand, and my conditions as a new worker, I am unable to receive leave of absence or paid time off. So, I was essentially let go from the company and will be able to return upon recovery and clearance. And I can’t really work ANYWHERE until I receive medical clearance. I tried to apply for a credit care and was denied, so at this point with no job I have absolutely NO idea how I’m gonna be able to get this fixed. I have the donations set to go on for 25 days, but honestly I was told by the head surgeon at OrthoNow that the sooner I get this fixed the better, because the more I wait, the more my hand will heal in it’s deformed/broken state, making surgery more difficult. I’m not expecting $5000 in 2 days, but any help is appreciated.
You may or may not know me and I honestly feel weird asking for donations from anyone for ANYTHING, that’s just how I am personally. I’m always willing to give and I try my best to be as generous as possible. Unfortunately I have no real perks other than hugs and genuine appreciation, but if you’d like to help donate, it’d be greatly appreciated, if not then I appreciate you reading this far. Thank you so much.
